Project Name: Mobilization of Civil Society and Media to Address Community Needs

Partnership: The project was design a joint-venture with WASSA and WISE worked as partner.

Summary including results:

WISE organization conducted this project to those districts that are still being ignored by national and international organizations to work with them on human rights concept, due to security issues in the past, the civil society organizations have never gone to there, therefore the human rights is a new concept for them. Women and men community in these districts necessarily needs to know the concept of human rights. To end this, WISE will select five districts of Herat to increase the capacity of 30 male and female Shura council members on human rights concepts so that Shura members in turn deliver the human rights issue to community. The mentioned districts were requested in line with Herat DoWA request which regularly insists and encourage for civil society to work in these districts due to law capacity of community on women rights and gender equality issues.

Therefore WISE organization conducted human rights workshops for 30 male and female of Shura council members and districts authorities for three days in each following district (Pashton Zarghon, Rabot Sanghi , Shandan, Obbi and Gozara) in Herat province. It is worth to mention that these are the neither districts where neither national nor international organization implemented nor capacity building programs especially on human rights concept.

The most impact of human rights workshop on shura members was that they are become  strengthen the fight of Shura community council and district authorities for Human Rights and more importantly and wisely sensitize them on human rights to properly understand the human rights concepts, advocate a group for human rights and monitor human rights on community level and judge accordingly.  The project was focused to create the culture of human rights and create human rights group and finally make shura members and community united for transitional justice process in Afghanistan.

WISE organization also conducted three public event awareness campaigns for schools teachers, social leaders/Mullahs, community people and districts authorities on human rights concepts including women rights, gender based violence, prohibition of violence, rule of law, gender equality, force marriage, and justice transition.

Conducting public event awareness campaigns are as following:

  • WISE  conducted three public event campaigns on human rights for 300 men district community including schools teachers, youth, farmers, for three days in Pashton Zarghon district of Herat.
  • WISE  conducted three public event campaigns on human rights for 300 men district community including schools teachers, youth, farmers, for three days in Rabot Sanghi district of Herat.
  • WISE  conducted three public event campaigns on human rights for 300 men district community including schools teachers, youth, farmers, for three days in Shandan district of Herat.
  • WISE  conducted three public event campaigns on human rights for 300 men district community including schools teachers, youth, farmers, for three days in Obbi district of Herat.
  • WISE  conducted three public event campaigns on human rights for 300 men district community including schools teachers, youth, farmers, for three days in Gozara district of Herat.
